Soho not SOSO!
Berwick Street Traders Society

-
Soho is, and has always been, one of the most diverse and vibrant neighbourhoods in London. A place where artists, actors, fashionistas, sex workers, admen, tradesmen, tourists and musicians all gather. Soho’s independence and heritage was threatened with a Government proposal to hand over management of the area to a private operator.

The Soho not SOSO! campaign was a celebration of the creativity, character and naughtiness inherent in Soho. We collaborated with 20 leading artists and illustrators including Sir Peter Blake to create unique works of graphic art inspired by the area. Our work was exhibited at The Getty Gallery in Fitzrovia and on Berwick Street for their Festival of Soho.

This campaign was self-initiated and demonstrates our proactive and forward thinking approach. It highlights our ability to collaborate with a community to make something good happen and how we use visual language to tell a positive story. Nearly 40 thousand people signed the online petition in objection and Westminster City Council has now scrapped the bitterly opposed plans. Our work has also gone on to win a D&AD Pencil for Crafts for Advertising.
